Located steps from the major hospitals at 240 McCaul Street, the new House will be a place of streaming sunlight and beaming smiles – an antidote to dark days spent in hospital rooms. Featuring the latest in sustainable design and energy efficiency, the architects have conceived a truly green building that targets Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification. Boasting 65 family bedrooms and 15 two-bedroom family suites for our long-term stays, the larger premises will allow us to cater to 80 grateful families at a time. Here, parents under siege will be able to borrow a car, send emails and swap stories. Here, ailing kids will be able to just be kids. And here, families will be able to just get on with doing everyday stuff. Like cooking a pot of spaghetti. Washing clothes. Or just watching the same old reruns on TV. We feel that thousands of families are counting on us.
